I am new to exercise or haven't exercised in forever, will this work for me?
Yes. Since everyone works at their own level, beginners to advanced can all get an exceptional workout. We have a very supportive atmosphere, no one is made to feel bad if they can’t do an exercise. In fact, you will get lots of encouragement. You are only asked to do what you can do, not what someone else can do.
I am currently fit and active, will this boot camp challenge me?
Definitely. We give different options for every fitness level. If you are extremely fit, then we will take your exercise modification up as high as it needs to be. We rate your exertion level from 1-10, 1 being like walking from the couch to the fridge, 10 like you are running for your life as fast as you can. If we want everyone to work at a level 6, you might need to work faster, higher, or heavier to get to a level six than a 59 year old man who just started would.
I am very overweight and don't think I can do it, should I sign up?
Yes! We offer modifications for most exercises, this means that we can give everyone easy, moderate and hard options for the same exercise. Example: Let’s say everyone is doing push ups. Some people might need to drop to their knees, some may be able to do full push ups and then halfway through drop to their knees, others might just simply hold themselves in the up position. We can get you moving and building muscle that will burn fat.
Should I eat before boot camp?
Yes. You should eat a small snack like, yogurt and a banana.
What should I expect on my first day?
Prepare to come a little bit early so you have a moment to speak with your trainer and go over your fitness information. All you need to do is look at the others to learn the exercises. Your trainer will be looking out for you to give you extra instruction to make sure you are doing them correctly.
Boot camp sessions are broken into segments:
- Warm up
- Main workout
- Cool down
- Stretching
What should I bring to boot camp?
First of all, wear comfortable clothing and supportive shoes. Don’t worry about matching or looking like a movie star, it isn’t a beauty pageant.
You should bring a water bottle and maybe a towel if you like to wipe the sweat off during your rest times. We supply all the equipment, so there is nothing else you need to bring.
Will I be sore after my first day?
If you haven’t been exercising, you should expect to be slightly to very sore. We will not make you go all out your first day or even your first week but if you aren’t used to moving and sweating, your body will not be used to it and will be sore. Let the soreness become a badge of accomplishment, you are on your way.
I am so sore, I can barely move. I don't want to come back.
Well it’s not really a question but we know how you feel. You must come back! Remember the goals you have and where you want to be. We are here to help you but we can only help you if you show up.
Soreness can be relieved to some extent with ice and gentle stretching and massaging. If you choose to ice, do 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Get to bed early for plenty of rest, your body needs rest to build muscle.
I need help with nutrition and diet.
Exercise is only a part of the solution, the other part is nutrition. At Workout Quest we focus on sustainable lifestyle changes. We supply you with a nutrition program and Food Journal that your trainer will use to help steer you in the right direction.
